For the Maya of Central America, cocoa was the drink of the gods, and for years after it was introduced to Europe it was the preserve of the aristocracy.

More recently it has been seen as a children’s drink, but now it is making a comeback among gourmets and top chefs, who are rediscovering drinking chocolate.

Rich decorations, ambient lights and special sound effects create a truly unforgettable experience

With over 2000 squared meters of space, Choco-Story Prague is the largest chocolate museum in the country.

Established in 2008 the museum went through several reconstructions and enhancements. As its collection expanded, the museum was moved to new premises in 2011.

Celetná street is considered to be the chocolate street of Prague.

The House of the Black Sun, located just across the street from the museum, is the place where first chocolate was sold in Prague in the 18th century.

Our exposition is great for schools groups, families, couples and all chocolate enthusiasts.

The chocolate or cacao tree (Theobroma cacao) originated in the Amazon Basin on the eastern equatorial slopes of the Andes. It is a small, shade-loving tree of wet tropical lowland forests.

Many Indian tribes believed the plant came from the gods, hence the generic name Theobroma, meaning “food of the gods.”
